Laguna private investigators are having a field day with their clients: cheating spouses abound, and a few cases are at the fore of an article in the OC Register . In one such case, an officer in home loaning may be caught with his lover – a woman who has a live-in lover, and who might be a wee bit disgusted if he catches his girl with another man. Ali Dixon, private investigator, keeps a close eye on the girl. It’s that time of the year again when Valentine’s scoots by, just the right time for a little infidelity to come to the surface.
Private investigators in this part of the U.S. are working for multiple clients, and they go for strip clubs, the homes of suspected paramours, and anywhere that their clients will pay them their daily five hundred dollars to go. The work can be tortuous if the claims are unfounded. It will involve following people, stalking them, taking pictures, engaging in long stakeouts, and exercising patience on so many different levels. This Laguna firm gets two cases a day on average, with Valentine’s filled with work; the gender slant is likewise unexpected, as, according to one investigator, over two thirds of the people that he follows are women.
The stalked persons are not repentant all the time. According to one investigator, some people will break down once caught, while others will hire their own private investigators and sic them on the PI’s, trying to find out who was responsible for catching them. According to Dixon, about ninety percent of the claims turn out to be true. The OC Register rode with the PI as he worked his two cases, and found that indeed, tediousness and excitement can truly mix in this line of work.
Adultery is not something to be easily dismissed as statistics slanted. After all, the statistics do tell us that cheating is rampant nearly everywhere, and not only among the married. In some cases, cheating in a marriage can lead to divorce or annulment, or it can lead to some form of reconciliation with the proper attitude and mediation between the spouses. Cheating is, moreover, a multi-faceted issue that has many factors playing into it. Cheaters can cheat because of spouses that do not pay them attention; cheaters can cheat as a form of retaliation, further complicating the issue; cheaters can cheat because they have a psychological need that has to be fulfilled.
Whatever the need is for a person to cheat, there can be some telltale signs of cheating. Erratic and emotional behavior can signal that a spouse is cheating, as can sudden bursts of gift-giving (to assuage guilt) or defensiveness (when confronted with the question of cheating). Private investigators can be expensive, however, so before you start hiring someone to do a stakeout, make sure that you are completely sure about your claims.
