In recent posts we’ve uncovered the many ways to kill a cat, that is, to catch your cheating spouse. Ways like looking for receipts from your spouse’s pockets, scrutinizing your spouse’s cell phone bills, monitoring his/her online activities and snooping his/her computer for deleted emails have uncovered hidden affairs for many spouses all over the world.

The recent tax season has surprisingly presented a new idea that lets spouses in on a possibility of their partners cheating on them. Reports disclosed that tax filing could be an indicator that your partner is cheating on you. The clues could be staring right at your face if you scrutinize your spouse’s tax statements enough. If there were some things on your spouse’s tax statements that you don’t know about or if your spouse was pressuring you to sign the return without even glancing at it, it could be an indicator that he/she is up to something, like, well, cheating. One report told a story of a wife who had to sign her joint tax return without having the chance to read it through because her husband said it had to be mailed right away. After a few months, she found out through their pension statement that their pension fund has been depleted. She could have found that out earlier on had she read their joint tax return before signing it.

In another report, checking your spouse’s W2 report to see if your spouse’s supposed “overtime” is reflected on the form. He could be using his recent alibis of countless overtimes to cover for his affairs. Also, checking the bank or any investment accounts you and your spouse may jointly have for liquidations that you are not aware of. Your cheating spouse could have been using your savings to pay for dinners and other expenses with someone else. Your mutual fund company, for example, is obliged to document such liquidations for tax purposes.

If you’re vigilant enough, you’d find out that there are indeed countless other ways to catch a cheating spouse. It’s expensive to be involved in an affair. Checking your finances is a good exercise to become your own sleuth and find out what your spouse is up to.
