The Internet is such an amazing virtual world that brought a myriad of new ways for people to interact with each other. What we used to do offline can also be done online, like sending a note to someone across the miles while simultaneously phoning someone. Unfortunately, the virtual world has also fueled the rise of a new form of infidelity which makes catching your cheating spouse all the more daunting.

Emotional infidelity, while not new, is now on the rise along with virtual affairs. Correspondences like email and instant messaging have made searching for an old flame a lot easier. We hear stories of spouses who, for many years, have still been emotionally attached to their old lovers. They have been trying to get in touch with their former flames to somehow relive the past even through exchange of notes or phone calls. Today, finding the long lost love of your life who now is, perhaps, a thousand miles away, is just as easy as finding a song’s lyrics on an online lyrics site.

Emotional infidelity, it’s all-consuming and burning. It’s as intense as trying to find the right words to express something. With the advent of modern technology, emotional infidelity is no longer confined within one’s mind, it now has a way to reach out and satisfy the longing to quench it. Emotional infidelity is not only with one’s old flame. When a spouse is in love with someone else that he/she has met online or at work or at your town’s coffee shop, your spouse could be falling into the devastating trap of emotional infidelity.

When you catch your spouse spending too much time on the Internet and suddenly turns off the monitor of the computer or switches windows, beware, he or she could be having an affair with someone online. Perhaps it’s now time to simply set up a deal with your wife for transparency on Internet use. Or you could go out of your way and sleuth on your spouse by installing software that could monitor your spouse’s Internet activities like email and web browsing history.
